FAQ

Do you offer free trials?

Yes! I would always advocate trying a class prior to signing up for the term. A trial must be organised in advance and is dependent on spaces being available. If it's not your thing, no problem! You will not be invoiced for a trial class. If you love it ( I hope you do!) then you register with the academy and pay for that upcoming term.

What should I wear?

We have a lovely academy uniform with everything from leotards to tap & ballet shoes in our own online store. However if you're trying a class for the first time, a t-shirt & leggings is absolutely fine! Bare feet is fine for ballet & modern and most of the time we have tap shoes we can lend.

At what age do children start at HMDA?

Our classes start when a child reaches pre-school age. Children will be 3 years old by 31st August and starting their pre-school academic year.  The classes are designed to encourage confidence and independence and therefore the children come in without their parent/carer. Don't worry, we do have watching weeks at the end of each term so you can see what happens in a regular class and how they're getting on.
Obviously it can be daunting at first in a new place with a new person so it's fine to accompany your child in the first few weeks if they need help settling. You'll be surprised how many come running in without so much as a backward glance!
